Kathmandu: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has denied reports that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Iran and Israel, stating that no final deal has been made yet.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, Araghchi clarified, "There is no ceasefire agreement. If Israel halts its illegal attacks on Iranians, we will not retaliate, but that cannot be equated with a formal ceasefire."

This statement came shortly after US President Donald Trump claimed via his social media platform Truth Social that a ceasefire was imminent. Trump wrote, “I am pleased to announce that a complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran will take effect in 12 hours—six hours from now. Iran will lay down its arms for the first 12 hours and then Israel will lay down its arms for the next 12 hours.”

However, Iranian authorities have rejected this claim, suggesting that any such phased ceasefire plan has not been officially agreed upon and discussions, if any, remain tentative.

The confusion highlights the fragility of the situation in the Middle East, where recent hostilities between Israel and Iran have drawn in global attention and calls for restraint. Diplomatic efforts appear ongoing, but no concrete outcome has been achieved as of yet.
